Abstract

Urbanization and industrialization of various cities has led to huge increase in population which has resulted in a large number of vehicles travelling on road leading to traffic jams and congestions across major streets. Due to heavy traffic jams, the emergency vehicle such as an ambulance may not be able to reach the hospital at the appropriate time, and this may lead to loss of life. Thus, Emergency vehicle management plays an important role during unavoidable traffic jams. Traditional traffic lights work with the help of pre-designed programs, which cannot be altered easily. The idea behind this study is to make use of RF modules to control traffic lights and to provide a less traffic path for emergency vehicles. This proposed system is completely automated, withstands harsh environments and cost effective compared to various other approached designed system.
