Abstract

This study aims at the possibilities of integrating technology as an alternative learning method for the hearing-impaired children. Technological experience is a significant force for increasing efficiency in education. For the hearing-impaired student’s communication is based on two modes i.e., through lip reading and sign language. These communication channels continue to play important roles in the teaching-learning process even today. Today, almost all the educational institution around the world uses technological media in education. But when it comes to the children with disabilities only the traditional mode of teaching is continued. To improve the teaching learning process of deaf children, the existing method of manual teaching of sign language is itself not enough. ICT tool can be used for sign language that act as a human interpreter. Here the voice is converted to text and there by the text is read by the deaf child and text is also converted as sign language that can be easily understood by deaf students. This paper focuses on the AI based mechanism as an alternative learning method for the hearing-impaired children.
