Abstract

This study examines the Saudi animation film business and its opportunities and challenges. Animated series have long been popular in Saudi Arabia, where television first started airing in 1965. The Saudi animation film industry, however, is still in its infancy. This study evaluates the prerequisites for the industry to reach the growth stage by gaining a better understanding of how various countries in the Middle East developed their animation industries. A review of the factors affecting the industry’s progress was conducted, and the most influential ones were determined. The major factors contribute to Saudi animation industry growth include government support, investments in technology and infrastructure, focus on digital transformation, and a young and growing population. Findings indicate that despite being in its early stages of growth, the Saudi animation film industry may begin to thrive and develop at an impressive rate due to the country’s emphasis on digital transformation in recent years.
