Abstract

Every year many people lose their lives due to road accidents and drowsy driving. The Drowsy driving is one of the primary causes of road accidents and death. Fatigue and micro sleep at the driving controls are the root cause of serious accidents. This paper shows an experimental model designed for detecting drowsiness based on visual information and Artificial Intelligence to reduce accidents and increase the transportation safety. The proposed system uses OpenCV libraries to identify human faces while causing many accidents due to vehicle crashes. This system is going to operate in two modes-One is camera mode and other one is sensor mode. In camera mode the first driver’s face is captured, eye detection and extraction of facial features are done, blinking values are calculated, and threshold value is set. The GPS module determines the location, and this information is sent through GSM to family members of user or owner of car. In this prototype DC motor is used as an engine. In mode two IR sensor detects the drowsiness. An AVR microcontroller Will process the signal give the alert to the driver and stop the vehicle.
