The Effect of Damask Rose Essential Oil on Sleep Disorders Induced by Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of Damask rose essential oil on sleep disorders induced by GAD in individuals referred to Salamatkade Rahe Sabze Salamat Clinic in City Tehran compared to a control group. Method: A clinical trial utilizing a pre-test/post-test design with follow-up was conducted on 60 patients referred to Salamatkade Rahe Sabze Salamat Clinic in the city of Theran. Participants were assigned to either the Damask rose essential oil group or the control group. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire was utilized before, immediately after, and during follow-up after the intervention. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 26 software. Results: The results showed a significant reduction in the mean scores of sleep disorders induced by GAD (P<0.05, F = 4.438) in the Damask rose essential oil group compared to the pre-test scores in both the experimental and control groups at the post-test and follow-up. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that Damask rose essential oil can improve sleep disorders induced by GAD.
