Abstract

The advancement of information technology results innovativeness in the systemic processes of any institution of learning or organizations. This study has the purpose to develop a decision assistance system based on animal bite mapping. This was carried out by utilizing a geographical information system and the Google Maps API as a model for a decision support system. The outcome of the interview that the researcher carried out with the 18 health-care personnel at the Animal Bite Treatment Centers (ABTC) revealed that patients who have been bitten by animals seek medical treatment at the Animal Bite Centers. Around 14 of the 18 health-care workers revealed that animal bite victims present themselves to their Center when their condition is already at mid-risk, and 16 of the health care workers revealed that animal bite victims present themselves for medical treatment when they are not yet at risk of being harmed. Concerning the difficulties experienced by the ABTC in the process of administering the vaccines to the victims of animal bites, 16 of the 18 health-care workers revealed that the primary problem is on finances, specifically the budget releases from the DOH Central Office. This was revealed in relation to the difficulties experienced by the ABTC. The second factor is whether or not the necessary deliverables or supplies are readily available.
