Abstract

Travel agencies are the real intermediaries who work on behalf of the customers and
the suppliers of travel products. Day by day the competition among the travel agencies are
increasing tremendously, the travel agencies are no more traditionally built in for the purpose
of issuing ticket. The travel agencies additionally carry out many travel related works apart
from ticketing, they are VISA processing, booking for accommodation, arranging for
sightseeing, pick up and drop facilities from airport or railway station to the hotels.
Nowadays, travel agencies really act as a one stop travel shop for the customers, wherein the
above said travel needs are fulfilled in a single place, without making the customers strain too
much. Therefore, the travel agencies functions have been diversified and it has become a one
stop travel shop, which saves time and energy of the customers.
The travel agencies are really facing different challenges but still there are lots and lots of
improvement in the technology, knowledge sharing and advancement in customer service at a
more competitive rate.In future, Multitasking travel agencies who have all the travel services
at one stop will only survive and the small IATA ticketing agents will disappear from the
market.
