Abstract

Nowadays, knowledge is considered the most important thing for people, so education is growing stronger and stronger. Not only that, to further develop the education industry, the world is bringing every convenience for learning, especially information technology. Although there are many contributions to the development of education, they all aim to help people absorb knowledge as quickly and completely as possible. However, people cannot achieve an academic career only by the above convenience, the most important factor is still the learner's motivation and desire to learn. According to many teachers, lack of motivation has long been one of the most frustrating obstacles to student learning. For learners, lack of motivation will cause the learning journey to be stagnant and interrupted. Japanese language learners are growing in Vietnam, this essay aims to identify the motivating factors that motivate students and the challenges they encounter during the learning journey. The essay used a comprehensive approach, combining surveys and classroom observations to collect data from Vietnamese students studying Japanese at different universities. The essay analyzes this data using statistical and content analysis techniques. The essay revealed two important aspects: motivation and challenges. Internal motivational factors, such as passion for Japanese culture, career aspirations, and self-expression, emerged as strong motivators. External motivational factors, including the ability to use Japanese in daily life, social expectations, rewards and motivation, also play a key role in students' progress.
