Abstract

India has rapidly emerged as a leading global hub for medical tourism, driven by its unique blend of affordability, high-quality healthcare, advanced technology, and traditional wellness practices. Offering world-class treatments at a fraction of Western costs, India attracts patients from across the globe for complex procedures such as organ transplants, cardiac surgeries, and oncology treatments, as well as for holistic recovery through Ayurveda, yoga, and naturopathy. Government initiatives, private sector investments, and internationally accredited hospitals have further strengthened India’s position. However, challenges like infrastructure gaps, limited insurance integration, and policy fragmentation remain. With the market projected to reach USD 13 billion by 2026, India is poised to not only sustain its cost advantage but also redefine itself as a global leader in holistic, patient-centric healthcare.
