The Influence of Certain Factors on the Demand for Electricity in the Industrial Sector in the Punjab Region
Main Article Content
Abstract
Because of the tremendous expansion of Punjab's economy, the region's need for energy has
adapted to reflect these new circumstances. Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in
the amount of electricity that the state requires. The present investigation provides a holistic
strategy for addressing the increasing demand for electricity in the state. In this work,
statistical analysis is used to investigate the connection between the need for electricity and
both climate-related and non-climate-related aspects of the environment. This research
focuses a great emphasis on a number of different aspects as the primary contributors to the
consumption pattern in the Punjab region. In addition, the article discusses the shifts in
demand for energy that are anticipated to take place between 2017 and 2021. The findings of
the investigation revealed a number of shifts and alterations, including the existence of peak
load shifting from nighttime to morning as well as revisions to the yearly daily load curve.
The majority of the shifts in consumption patterns that occurred throughout these years may
be attributed to changes in economic conditions, social norms, and demographics. The
installation of modern heating equipment helps with the management of the increased
demand that occurs during the winter months. This study makes use of the daily maximum
severe loads throughout both the morning and evening peak times as dependent elements.
Both the difference in temperature above or below a threshold temperature and the reaction of
the population during weekends and weekdays serve as independent variables that are taken
into account in the study. The threshold temperature is the temperature at which the
difference in temperature is considered significant. Both forms of replies are taken into
consideration throughout the investigation. According to the findings, Punjab's consumption
pattern is significantly influenced. Furthermore, the findings of the paper show that
policymakers and planners should exercise extreme caution before imposing additional tariffs
on developing countries like India. This is because the findings show that developing
countries are more susceptible to the negative effects of additional tariffs
