A Conformal Coplanar Rectangular Patch with Slot Antenna for Biomedical Applications

Abstract
Coplanar waveguide-fed rectangular patch antenna with a rectangular slot for biomedical
applications is projected in this work. As the wearable antenna is more flexible to the user for
the (WBAN) wireless body area networks. A wearable antenna is designed with dimensions
(50×50) mm2 on denim material with a relative εr of 1.7 and a height of 1mm. The proposed
antenna is designed for ISM Band applications, which covers the frequency range (1.82 – 3.06
GHz) with a resonating frequency of 2.5GHz in off body planar state and the gain of the antenna
is 3.54dBi, in off body bent state resonates at 2.44GHz and has a frequency range of (1.79-
2.96) GHz. The bandwidth decreases when it is placed on human tissue, it resonates at 2.45GHz
in the planar state and when subjected to bending it resonates at 2.3GHz, the lowest SAR is
0.52W/Kg.
