Abstract

The figure of the teacher is the main axis in education that determines the progress of the
country for the future who has the main task of educating, guiding, and giving direction to their
students. The figure of the teacher is widely used in films. However, in this case, the film can
be used as a medium for the deconstruction of discourse on the figure of a teacher with the
theoretical perspective of Jaques Derrida. With this deconstruction inviting readers to think
critically in revealing the hidden meaning in a text, the study is the Mr. Guru film series by
Hajar Pamuji. So this study examines how efforts to deconstruct the teacher figure are depicted
in the Mr. Guru film series by Hajar Pamuji!. This study uses a qualitative research method
with the analysis of the deconstructed text of Jaques Derrida using the Roland Barthes method.
Data collected through documentation, library research and observation. The results of the
study indicate that the deconstruction of the teacher figure leads to a teacher figure who is no
longer dominant as interpreted as a figure who becomes a role model and becomes an example,
but is shown as a person who has free will for himself with distinctive behaviors that are
opposite to being a teacher in general.
