Motivations of Agricultural Extension Workers towards Occupational Training in Nineveh Governorate

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the level of motivation of agricultural extension workers in
Nineveh Governorate towards Occupational training in general. Determining the level of
motives of agricultural extension workers towards job training according to the following
areas of motives: (professional motives, social motives, economic motives, creativity and
excellence motives), as well as arranging the areas of motives towards job training according
to their importance. In agricultural extension towards training and career in general, and each
of the following personal and functional characteristics: (age, gender, educational attainment,
job title, specialization in agricultural extension, length of employment service, Occupational
stability, attitude towards participation in training), and then arranging motives paragraphs
according to relative importance For workers in agricultural extension in Nineveh
Governorate. The research population included all workers in agricultural extension in
Nineveh Governorate, where the sample included a study of the entire community of (125)
respondents after (20) respondents were taken as an exploratory sample for the purpose of
measuring the reliability of the scale using the Alpha Cronbach method, where The value
was (0.81%). The questionnaire was used as a means of collecting the necessary data from
the respondents. The questionnaire consisted of two parts, the first part included measuring
the functional and personal characteristics of the respondents, while the second part of the
questionnaire included the motivation scale, which consisted of (66) items distributed over
the four motive domains, and a four-way scale was used to measure it. It consists of the
following alternatives: (I agree very much, I agree, I agree to some extent, I disagree) The
weights (1,2,3,4) are assigned to them respectively. The data was analyzed using the
statistical program Spss. Some other statistical methods were used in analyzing the data,
including (t) test, Pearson correlation coefficient, Spearman's reliability coefficient and
percentage weight equation to compare between the four motives domains. The results
showed: that (63.2%) of the researchers were moderately motivated towards Occupational
training, (20%) were highly motivated towards Occupational training, and (16.8%) of the
workers had low motivation and the level of motivation towards training in general is
medium. Tends to rise and occupational motives were the most important motives with a
percentage weight of (20) and the results also showed a significant correlation between
motives towards job training and each of the variables: (duration of job service, trend towards
participation in job training, academic achievement), and the results also showed that The
paragraph (I participate in job training to develop my skills at work) came in the first place
among the paragraphs of motives towards Occupational training, believing that the high level
of their professional performance will achieve all their other motives. Positive about job
training .
