Abstract

The SkyLineBot – Aerial Message Drawing Drone is an innovative, cost-effective solution designed to display emergency signals and essential text messages in the sky. This system integrates mechanical design, wireless communication, and control electronics to create a visually impactful aerial response tool for urgent situations. The drone frame is constructed from lightweight yet robust materials, providing enhanced stability, agility, and energy efficiency during flight. At the core of the system, an ESP8266 microcontroller facilitates wireless communication, enabling precise coordination of drone movements and message display sequences. A smoke spray module is mounted onto the drone to release either colored or colorless smoke, serving as a clear indicator of an emergency situation. However, the actual text messages (such as “HELP”) are displayed on a compact I2C LCD display fitted onto the drone. While the current implementation uses a minimal-sized prototype LCD for student demonstration purposes, the system has the potential to be scaled up with larger displays for broader visibility. By combining aerial mobility with real-time wireless control, the SkyLineBot demonstrates the feasibility of executing emergency signaling through an integrated smoke indicator and drone- mounted digital text display. This project highlights the potential of merging Internet of Things (IoT) technology with aerial robotics to provide a practical, scalable, and highly visible solution for emergency communication in outdoor environments.
