Abstract

Wire EDM is a potential electro thermal process among non-traditional machining processes,
owing to the capability of meeting requirements of the present day product manufacturing
industry.Wire Electrical Discharge Machining is a controlled machining process which is
used to manufacture geometrically intricate shapes with great accuracy and good surface
finish that are difficult to machine with the help of conventional machining processes.
WEDM is a potential thermo-electrical machining technique, and this is a contactless
machining process, i.e. the wire electrode does not come into contact with the workpiece
electrode. This technique was invented for better precision purpose during machining.
Material was eroded by a series of controlled sparks between two electrodes. Both electrodes
are connected to the DC pulse power supply and immersed in the dielectric fluid; the fluid
behaves like an electrical conductor, which acts like electrical insulator until the ionization
time.WEDM is now growing as an important process in various fields; work has been done to
use the technology for fabricating micro components.EDM is an important and cost-effective
method of machining extremely tough and brittle electrically conductive materials
