Public Sector Banks Performance During Reforms Period

Resumen
This study examined the financial performance in terms of profitability and its determinants
public sector banks in India during the deregulation era. The study is mainly based on
secondary data obtained from the annual report of Indian Bank’s Association (IBA), and a
span of 20 years from 1995-96 to 2014-15 considered a study period. The traditional ratio
analysis approach is used to estimate profitability.. The results suggested that the public
sector banks performed better than the private sector banks.
